Our review
PromptChan gets you into generation immediately — character builder on the landing page, no drawn-out onboarding. Pick from four visual styles (anime, hentai, photorealism, furry), dial in proportions, skin tone, hair and clothing, and images arrive in seconds. The uncensored claim is legitimate: there are no content guardrails blocking adult material, which puts it in a different category from sanitised mainstream tools. Anime and hentai outputs are the clear strength — detail is reliable and the seed-lock feature holds character parameters across multiple generations, giving you the consistency that actually makes a tool useful rather than just playable. Photorealism is present but demands considerably more prompt work to hit anything convincing; expect iteration rather than first-pass results if hyperrealism is your target.
The toolkit goes beyond static images. Short video generation (up to 10 seconds), inpainting, outpainting, and 4K upscaling are all available — though video and upscaling are gated behind paid tiers. The built-in AI chat lets you interact with generated characters, which neatly bridges image generation and companion functionality if that's your use case. Privacy documentation is thinner than you'd want — private mode exists for stored images and HTTPS is in place, but specifics around prompt logging and server-side image retention aren't clearly documented.
The monetisation is gem credits, and the free tier burns through them fast, especially if you iterate prompts or run multiple character variations in a session. That's deliberate design. The Plus tier at £4.49/month adds priority queuing and 100 monthly gems — barely enough for serious use. The Pro tier at £9.99/month is the practical entry point: 800 gems, unlimited casual-mode generations, video and upscaling included. No advertised trial period, so you're committing somewhat blind. For light exploration the free tier is genuine; for regular creative use, budget for Pro.
